Immigration Minister Lianne Dalziel has ruled out an amnesty for illegal workers in Marlborough and says she may toughen up on special permits.
About 30-40 illegal immigrants are believed to be working in the region's vineyards, many of them working seven days a week, without holiday pay or statutory leave, and some on less than the minimum wage.
