NIWA scientists are asking Christchurch residents for help following this week's flooding.
If anyone took a photo when the flood water was at its peak anywhere in Christchurch during Wednesday morning or early afternoon, they are asked to email it to floodphoto@niwa.co.nz with the location and time.
"This information will help us understand how vulnerable different parts of Christchurch are to flooding in the future, particularly following the earthquakes," NIWA said.
