The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa) sponsors four of the annual science fairs that are held around the North Island.
These fairs are held in Auckland, Waikato, the Bay of Plenty and Wellington.
The Auckland fair is scheduled for October 29-31 at the Ellerslie Race Course. The Waikato, Rotorua and Wellington fairs are held in late August each year.
The major prizes for this year's competition are the Unitec Award, of one year's fees, and the Auckland University Award, of $1000 towards course costs.
