Nine people have been arrested by Auckland police investigating the bashings of brothers Sila and Vili Kamoto and their friend in Mt Roskill.
Sila is still in hospital with serious head injuries suffered during the alleged attack outside his home on Morrie Laing Ave, Avondale.
The nine arrested will appear in the Auckland District Court tomorrow to face a range of charges including wounding with intent to cause grevious bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
All nine are males from Avondale who range in age from 17 to 24, police said.
The charges relate to alleged offences against Vili and his friend - none relate to the attack on Sila. Further charges may be laid at a later date, a police spokesman added.
Detective Senior Sergeant Gerard Whitley of the Avondale CIB said the investigation into the attacks was ongoing but that today's arrests represented a significant breakthrough for the inquiry team.
