Nine arrested after Dunedin street party

A student street party in Dunedin ended last night with nine arrests.

The Hyde St party is an annual event on the Otago student social calendar.

A Dunedin police spokesman said the event was "generally good natured" with people in costume having fun but after dark some people got a "bit excited".

Seven people were arrested for disorder, one for offensive behaviour and one for detox.
