"Clean eating" is a phrase that's suddenly appearing everywhere. It seems that if you're not making room in your life to throw back a crate of cleansing juices on a weekly basis and eliminate 'bad fats' from your daily diet, you're not doing it right. Even cafes and some restaurants are offering 'clean menus'.
But here's the thing; does it mean that those not following the trend are . . . well . . . serving and eating dirty food? Where do Twisties rank on the clean versus dirty scale? I'm thinking they must be dirty because they're orange, and Cheezels must be even grubbier because they're even more orange. Yummy though. What does it mean that I still consider them a reliable source of comfort when getting over a break-up? Does my craving for a juicy steak when I have a cold mean I like eating dirty? I adore soft French cheeses - you know the ones that ooze and run across the wooden board and smell like old socks - but am I now to consider them unclean? Or is it just a matter of balance because let's face it, we all like dirty eating sometimes don't we?
