KEY POINTS:
The mother of a Rotorua toddler appeared in Manukau District Court today charged with her manslaughter.
Lisa Kuka, 34, was arrested by police this morning.
She did not enter a plea to a charge of manslaughter by failing to provide medical care to her three-year-old daughter Nia Glassie.
Kuka was remanded on bail to reappear in Rotorua District Court for a pre-depositions hearing on October 23.
Nia Glassie died in Auckland's Starship Hospital on August 3 where she had lain in a coma until her life support system was turned off.
A pathologist's report has confirmed her death was a result of the effects of a brain bleed.
Five people have already been charged over the death.
Wiremu Curtis, 18, who was the partner of Kuka, and Michael Curtis, 21, have been charged with murder.
Two others, Michael Curtis's girlfriend Oriwa Kemp, 17, and Michael Pearson, 19, face counts of manslaughter.
The fifth defendant William Curtis, 47, the father of Wiremu and Michael, is accused of assaulting the pre-schooler and injuring her with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Rotorua police said today they did not expect any one else would be charged over the death.
