Hundreds of people were evacuated from the Rialto complex in Auckland's Newmarket today after a small fire in a shop.
Fire Service spokeswoman Megan Ruru said the fire was quickly put out but smoke filled the shop.
It then went through the rest of the complex via the air conditioning system, forcing the evacuation of cinemas, a food court and shops about 1.35pm.
All was up and running again within an hour.
