Two appeals have been set up to help the families of firefighters who lost their lives in New York and Washington this week.
The New York Firefighters Disaster Relief Fund has been established by United Fire Brigades Association, representing paid and volunteer firefighters in New Zealand.
The other, the NZ Firefighters Fund for American Firefighters, has been organised by John Mills, a station officer at Ponsonby Fire Station, on behalf of Auckland paid firefighters and the Professional Firefighters Union.
Donations to both funds can be made at any branch of the Bank of New Zealand.
