KEY POINTS:
A New Zealander barista is among the top 10 coffee makers in the world.
New Zealand champion Luciano Marcolino placed seventh out of 51 the World Barista Championships which ended in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the weekend.
Mr Marcolino, who owns a Christchurch espresso bar, was one place short of making the final, won by Ireland's Stephen Morrissey.
"We are very proud of Luciano and this result reflects the high standard of New Zealand coffee compared with other countries around the world," New Zealand Coffee Roasters' Association president Chris Dillon said today.
