A New Zealand scientist is overseeing the drug testing programme for the Sydney Olympics.
Sue Nolan from the Institute of Environmental Science and Research joins a World Anti-Doping Agency independent observer group.
Crown Research Institutes Minister Pete Hodgson says Mrs Nolan worked in the International Olympic Committee accredited laboratory at the Calgary Olympics in 1998.
He says she has also provided advice to the New Zealand Sports Drug Agency for many years.
The vice president of WADA is Wellington barrister David Howman, who will oversee the entire drug testing process.
