Love comes a-calling in the Upper West Side of New York during the annual production season at Kuranui College this week.
The college players' rendition of the Leonard Bernstein musical West Side Story will this year end with a twist and will be staged as an evening show at the school auditorium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
The production, based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, involves a cast and crew of 35 Year 9 to Year 13 students and matinee shows were held yesterday and today.
A Year 9 crew designed the set for the musical using recycled sets from past productions and lead characters this year include Year 9 student Grace Voice, who plays Maria, and Year 13 student Marlon Moala-Knox, who plays Tony.
Tickets for the production cost $5 each and are available at the Kuranui College front office.
