KEY POINTS:
Local Volvo importer Motor Distributors Limited (MDL) is thinking big for this year.
The company has added seven new models to its line-up for the new year, and in the past 15 months every model in the Swedish brand's range has been updated or replaced.
Volvo now offers 20 models in its sedan, wagon, off-roader, and hatch, coupe and convertible models.
Top of the pile is a range-topping version of the XC90 wagon, the V8 Sport. This model offers a package of features over and above the standard V8 for the same $124,990 price, including styling add-ons and stiffer suspension.
MDL has also added two new models to its S80 luxury sedan line-up. Previously, the S80 was only available as a V8 all-wheel-drive.
Now, there are also 3.2-litre six-cylinder all-wheel-drive (for $89,990) and 2.5-litre turbo diesel front-drive ($84,990) version.
The 3.2-litre petrol engine also powers the price-leading XC90 off-roader ($89,990).
Meanwhile, one of the icons of Volvo's recent past is returning in the form of the V70 T6 wagon. This 210kW car has a new 3.0-litre turbocharged straight six engine and will sell for $89,990.
The V70 T6 has the six-speed Geartronic automatic and an all-wheel-drive transmission.
Volvo is introducing LE specification models to its C70 coupe-convertible and C30 three-door hatchback ranges.
The C70 LE brings the price down to $84,990. The main difference is the use of a 125kW naturally aspirated engine, instead of the turbocharged powerplant in the C70 T5.
The C30 LE fits in between the entry C30 S and the range-topping C30 T5. It is priced at $49,990.
Both of these new LE models have five speed automatic gearboxes, which are mated to the 2.4 litre, five-cylinder engine with 125kW.
