New rates for well-known Aucklanders and city councillors

With the 2015/16 rates bills going online from today, The Herald has looked at the new annual rates levels for well-known Aucklanders and city councillors.

Rich and famous

• Hotchin House: Orakei - $97,466.29 (CV $39,000,000). Built by trusts associated with failed finance company director Mark Hotchin, now owned by Oravida founder Deyi Shi.
• Kim Dotcom: Chrisco Mansion in Coatesville - $47,094.96 (CV $23,550,000). Internet tycoon Kim Dotcom rents this luxurious Mahoenui Valley Road property built by Christmas hamper company founder Richard Bradley.
• Russell Coutts: Three sections on Tindalls Bay Road, Tindalls Beach - $6,339.64 (CV $2,325,000) plus $7,326.75 (CV$2,725,000) plus $6,709.81 (CV$2,475,000). Total rates bill of $20,376.20. The America's Cup winning yachtsman bought the three Tindalls Bay Rd properties between 2004 and 2012 and had the houses removed to begin work on a 667-sqm mega-mansion.
• Graeme Hart: Glendowie - $77,225.28 (CV $31,000,000). New Zealand's richest man with a fortune estimated at more than $7 billion owns this sprawling property.
• Diane Foreman: East Tamaki - $94,628.80, (CV $13,700,000). Owner of the Emerald Group, which includes property as well as ice cream brands Movenpick and New Zealand Natural. Her Omaha bach has a rates bill of $9,930.23 (CV$4,200,000).
