New rape trial ordered

The trial in the High Court at Auckland of a man accused of raping a woman in front of her son has been aborted.

Justice Simon France told the jury at yesterday that new evidence had come to light.

A new trial has been ordered.

Kalvant Karl Singh, 40, of New Lynn, is accused of raping the 58-year-old woman and committing other indecencies in revenge for her son allegedly stealing money from him.
