Brendan Horan may have stepped into the political arena, but proved last night that he has not put the entertainment business completely behind him.
The new New Zealand First MP was well known as a professional entertainer before being elected to Parliament last November, and last night he gave a special performance to Parliament.
Following the progression of several Treaty of Waitangi settlement bills, Mr Horan invited others to sing with him as he gave a Maori rendition of the national anthem.
While some MPs did join in, others looked on appearing slightly bemused.
Mr Horan, often referred to as "Mr Sunshine", was also known to television audiences from his time as a TVNZ weatherman, and spent some time as a swimsuit model.
