A week might be a long time in politics but for Masterton District Council's new facilities and activities manager it has barely been enough time to settle in her new role and come to grips with what is expected of her.
Andrea Jackson, 37, takes up the role which is an amalgam of two former positions held by Jan Gerritsen, who has retired, and Grant Hathaway who has left the council staff.
She is no stranger to local body work. Before her Masterton job she spent eight years working for Wellington City Council in sport and recreation before returning to work part-time with Wairarapa Tennis.
Included in her work portfolio will be working with Connecting Communities, Hood Aerodrome and responsibility for parks including Queen Elizabeth Park.
Ms Jackson describes herself as being a true daughter of Wairarapa, having been educated at Solway College.
