KEY POINTS:
National Party support has climbed to over 50 per cent, according to the latest Roy Morgan poll.
The poll showed:
National up 1.5 per cent to 50.5 per cent
Labour down 4 to 31 per cent
Green Party up one to 7 per cent
New Zealand First unchanged on 4 per cent
Maori Party unchanged on 3 per cent
United Future up 1.5 to 2 per cent
Act up one to 1.5 per cent
Progressive Party unchanged on 0.5 per cent
The poll, of 844 voters, was carried out between July 30 and August 12.
Pollster Gary Morgan said the Labour Government was continuing to struggle, and the 31 per cent support it had recorded was the lowest ever in a New Zealand Morgan poll.
Its level today was 10.1 percentage points below what it got at the last election.
The National Party also got 50.5 per cent support in a late May/early June poll, so today's result equalled its highest ever result in a Morgan poll.
