A $9 million, 120-room hotel will be built on the Rotorua lakefront.
The Ibis Rotorua will be developed by Rotorua Lakeside Resorts, a joint venture between a Thai investor and Rotorua developer Ray Cook.
If the company is granted resource consent by the Rotorua District Council, construction of the Ibis will begin in October and take about a year to complete.
About 40 permanent full-time staff will be employed when the hotel is up and running.
