The popular Aotea Square markets are returning to downtown Auckland, but to a new location and with a new name.
From December 5, the Auckland City Market will be held in the Wilsons carpark on Elliot St. Many former Aotea Square stall holders have already booked their spaces.
Auckland City Market co-director Donald Shaw has been trying to find a new home for the market since it closed last Christmas.
He said the new market, with more than 65 businesses, will be similar to the old one, but in quarter of the space.
Stall owners have had a hard time since Aotea Square closed for repairs.
"The best part of 200 people lost their primary source of income," he said.
The market will run every Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 6pm.
