Barrister Mary Peters has been appointed a High Court judge, Attorney-General Chris Finlayson announced today.
Ms Peters graduated with an LLB from Victoria University in 1985.
She practised with Russell McVeagh in Auckland between 1995 and 2004 and became a partner in 1997. She had previously practised in London and New York.
As a barrister Ms Peters specialised in land law, trust and estate matters.
She will be sworn in at Auckland on August 20.
