The Wairarapa Rescue Trust has been donated thousands of dollars for new equipment to help make their jobs easier.
Trustee John Bunny said they had been able to purchase nine new handheld GPS units and a two-piece stretcher. Funding would also go towards ongoing training.
Mr Bunny said the equipment was "extremely important" to help volunteers do their jobs properly.
"Those GPS units for example make searching so much easier," he said.
The trust was given $2750 by the Certus Charitable Trust for the two-piece stretcher, and Prime and Pelorus Trusts donated $1600 each to go toward six handheld GPS units.
