Its official. A Ferrari road car goes 'turbo' for the first time since the legendary F40 of 1987. The car in question, the new California T (as in T for turbo), has been unveiled after teaser images were released online at the start of the week.
Ferrari claim the new California T is a 'new' car compared to the outgoing model first introduced in 2008. Visually, the California T carries on the design theme seen on the 458 and F12 Berlinetta.
While still retaining its shape, the new car borrows many styling cues from the 458 and F12 Berlinetta. At the front, thinner headlights sit on haunches which sit above the bonnet line while nostrils and intakes on the front and side add agressiveness to an otherwise dainty design. The rear has been tidied up with dual exhausts and a rear diffuser.
The V8 engine has been reduced in size from 4.2 to 3.9-litres but the addition of two twin scroll turbochargers means there is more grunt then ever.
Power is rated at 412kW, 22 more than before, plus 755Nm of torque, a hike of 49 per cent over the outgoing model.
