KEY POINTS:
Constable Kayne Cording has a police dog at his side once more.
Just over a week after the death of his 3-year-old police dog Enzo, Cording is working with 7-month-old Yoda.
The big-eared, bright-eyed pup - from the same grandfather as Enzo - is already showing signs he has what it takes to make it into the policing ranks.
"He's quite a controlled, calm little dog. At this stage I'm very happy with him," said Cording.
Enzo died allegedly at the hands of Tauranga labourer Tairyn Murphy, 27, during a police search through bush on August 9.
It will be another nine months before Yoda is ready to begin police dog training before joining the dog section.
