Police have laid further charges against an Auckland actor who police shot after he allegedly threatened them when he made a false domestic violence complaint.
Rob Mokaraka, 36, was shot in the chest after allegedly lunging at police with what they said appeared to be knives and a meat cleaver outside a house in Pt Chevalier on July 27.
He was due to appear at Auckland District Court this morning to face one count of possession of an offensive weapon and another of assault with a weapon.
But Judge Nicola Mathers said Mokaraka was still in hospital and a medical certificate excused him from appearing.
Two new charges were laid today by police: threatening to kill and using a firearm to resist arrest.
Mokaraka's next court appearance was set for September 23.
