Police were last night scouring Auckland for a new bride after her mother and father reclaimed their daughter from her husband.
Police said it was the first disagreement of the new family.
The 19-year-old woman and her husband had married earlier in the day. The couple retired to their Hillside Rd home in Papatoetoe.
Her disapproving parents had arrived at the home and voiced their objections, police said.
Then, after an argument, they bundled the woman from the house and down to the side of the road.
Once there, as her new husband objected, they bundled her into the back of their car.
A police spokesman said the incident was more a family dispute than a kidnapping in the "serious crime" sense.
However, he said officers had taken the opportunity to inject calm into a situation that could have got out of control.
Communications released after minister apologised for his behaviour last month.
