Wairarapa senior men's outdoor bowls selector Warren Wyeth is optimistic of a strong showing from his side in their annual representative matches with Wellington and Hutt Valley in Wellington on Sunday.
Wyeth has chosen a squad packed with experience with the notable exception of Scott McKenzie, a second-year player who will lead the four. "He [McKenzie] is a rising talent and he should do a good job for us," Wyeth said. "There will be a few nerves but he has the temperament to handle it."
Skipping the four for Wairarapa will be Graeme Tindall (Masterton) and he will have current Bowls Wairarapa president Peter McGillicuddy at three and Laurie Field (Masterton) at two.
Two old hands - John Claydon (Masterton) and Les O'Donovan (Featherston) - will combine in the pairs while assistant selector Ian Monaghan (Masterton) will play the singles.
New blood, old hands give hope
