Australia's new Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop, will hold talks with Foreign Minister Murray McCully in Auckland tomorrow, the same day that Prime Minister John Key will hold talks in Canberra with new Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
Ms Bishop will be the first minister in the new Coalition Government to visit New Zealand.
She and Mr McCully met up last week at the United Nations in New York where Ms Bishop was representing Australia at the leaders' summit.
Announcing the visit today, Mr McCully said New Zealand and Australia worked well together on a broad range of regional and international issues, including Pacific development, trade liberalisation and the environment.
Tomorrow they would be discussing bilateral and Pacific relations, as well as the crisis in Syria and the United Nations Security Council, which Australia is at present chairing.
