A two-month spell of reduced speed tolerance on the roads comes into effect today.
Anyone caught at more than four kilometres an hour over the speed limit can expect a ticket.
It's the first time the reduction has been extended beyond a long holiday weekend.
Police say research over the past five years shows there's been a greater reduction in speed-related deaths and injuries when the lower limit has been in force.
They're also promising a highly-visible presence on the roads, and a continued focus on drink driving and seat belts.
