A $3.6 million community dialysis centre has been approved by the Waitemata District Health Board in Auckland.
The 18-station centre will create room for up to 72 patients a day, with the capacity for another 36 self-care patients to dialyse in the evenings.
The board is also adding six stations to the North Shore Dialysis Centre, which currently has 24 stations, and another three plumbed dialysis spaces to the North Shore Hospital service for inpatients.
This development is the second phase in a three-part plan to boost renal services in the west and north of Auckland.
