Yeah, the snow made the scenery look great ... but real southern men don't stand around looking at the landscape when there's a rugby game to be played.
Snow painted the Crown Ranges between Wanaka and Queenstown as winter took a hold, and even Auckland shivered in thunder, hail, 120km/h winds and rainstorms.
Schools and roads were closed in parts of the South Island, but in Balclutha the snow couldn't stop the Air New Zealand Cup rugby trials.
