Coach Debbie Matoe was impressed with the performance of Wairarapa players involved in trials for the Wellington under-19 netball team.
Impressed enough, in fact, to include two of them, defenders Rosie Mahoney and Julia Biggs, in her side to contest the national under-19 tournament in Invercargill in late July.,
And a third, Kim Holsted, is in the Wellington development team which will contest the same tourney
Matoe, a former Silver Fern, described the Wairarapa trio as "dominant players" at the trials.
" They were right up their with the best of them," she said. "They showed a lot of skill and enthusiasm."
Matoe said the form of those players and the victory of the Wairarapa senior team in the regional super league competition was an indication that the profile of netball was growing in the Wairarapa region."There are obviously some good things happening up there," she said.
