Netball Wairarapa's player development programme has got away to a flying start.
Thirty-five year 7 and 8 players were last week given the opportunity to brush up their skills before the 2009 season gets under way and coaches Dayle Clarkson, Trisanna Campbell and Janine Southey were delighted with their response.
Stretching exercises, fitness work and ball skills were high on the agenda with Sport Wellington Region's Barry Hislop providing valuable assistance in the latter area.
Sunday, May 3, will see Netball Wairarapa stage a rules and skills session for year 5 and 6 players at the St Matthew's Collegiate gymnasium. Places in this session will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis with any inquiries to be forwarded to Amy Herbert at Douglas Park School or Jo Green at Lakeview School.
Trials for the under-15 and under-17 Wairarapa representative teams are being held at the Genesis Recreation Centre this coming Sunday and the year 7 and 8 representative trials will be held on May 24.
