KEY POINTS:
South Auckland police say the net is closing in on the two men who bashed John Hapeta to death.
The 14-year-old suffered blunt force trauma to the back of the head after two men, one with a gun, entered his Weymouth home on Tuesday night.
Police executed a number of search warrants in the Weymouth area yesterday, and found several items that are now being analysed by scientists.
Detective Inspector John Tims says they have also spoken to about half a dozen people at those addresses.
When asked if he knew the offenders' identities, he replied "the net's closing, we've made positive headway and we're confident of an arrest."
John's body is being returned to his family today, who are also allowed back to their home.
