Money saved by Nelson people conserving power is being used to fund a new $18,000 sculpture at Nelson Hospital.
Nelson artist Grant Palliser has been commissioned to produce the sculpture, which will be displayed in the hospital's main entrance courtyard.
In 2001 Contact Energy donated $300,000 to the Nelson region as a reward for achieving 10 per cent power savings during a winter power crisis.
