Nelson pedestrian fatally struck by car named

Police have released the name of the Nelson pedestrian who was struck by a car early on Saturday morning as he was walking home.

He was 31-year-old Adam Lewis Wastney of Nelson.

At around 3.50 Mr Wastney was walking in the northbound lane when he was hit by a grey Honda Civic driven by a 31-year-old male who was travelling home from work.

Mr Wastney died at the scene and the driver of the Honda was taken to hospital with facial injuries.
