Mark Lundy's first night of freedom was met with a hail of vitriolic abuse and a shower of rain.
Lundy, who had murder convictions for killing his wife, Christine and daughter Amber, quashed on appeal by the Privy Council on Monday, arrived at his bail address around 5.45pm today (Friday) looking relaxed.
He had been driven from Rangipo Prison by one of his bail hosts, following the granting of a bail application this afternoon in the High Court in Wellington.
When the two men arrived at the house, Lundy calmly got out of the car and without acknowledging media waiting on the footpath, went and gave a woman a long hug before walking inside the house.
His host spoke briefly to media and asked for them to be given privacy.
