KEY POINTS:
A Foxton man was attacked and run over with a quad bike by two "neighbours from hell" on the local beach, police say.
Detective Sergeant Grayson Joines said the 38-year-old victim was accosted by his 30-year-old neighbour about 6pm yesterday while exercising on sand hills near Foxton.
The neighbour accused him of "poaching" from a nearby property and then allegedly assaulted him.
The victim tried to leave in his car, but was stopped and threatened with bodily harm, Mr Joines said.
He called police, but before officers had arrived the aggressor's 62-year-old father showed up.
The father allegedly chased the victim with a quad bike, then ran him over parking the quad bike onto top of him.
Mr Joines described it as a "neighbours from hell" type incident.
The victim suffered a serious cut to his head, grazes and bruising.
His injuries were not life threatening, but he was admitted to Palmerston North Hospital for treatment, Mr Joines said.
The father and son were charged with kidnapping, assault with intent to injure and assault with a weapon.
They were both due to appear in Levin District Court today.
Police investigations would continue today, Mr Joines said.
