The navy, police divers and search and rescue continue to search for a 48-year-old man missing in Lake Rotoiti, five days after he was last seen.
Rotorua constable Colin Fraser, from Search and Rescue, said the navy had identified a number of points of interest using its sonar machine.
Police divers were working their way through those points of interest and the search would continue until at least all those areas had been checked out, he said.
The Auckland man's family remain at the lake, where the search will resume at first light tomorrow.
Mr Fraser said there was a big area to search and the navy sonar was still finding new points of interest, where there were objects or images that could not be identified, for the divers to systematically check out.
