KEY POINTS:
The families of murder victims are taking part in a march today in support of tougher parole laws.
It is organised by the Sensible Sentencing Trust to kick off its 'New Zealand - A Land Fit for Criminals' campaign.
Mt Eden Prison in Auckland has been picked as the starting point.
Trust spokesman Garth McVicar says it is a chance for the victims to meet David Fraser, author of a book on the UK's justice system.
He says Mr Fraser will be welcomed, then there will be speeches from the author and victims' families.
Garth McVicar says the family of murdered Manurewa liquor store owner Navtej Singh are also expected to attend.
He says the aim of the event is to highlight the fact too many repeat offenders are being released.
He says rehabilitation is not working and a lot of offenders will just keep doing the same things if they are let out of prison.
Garth McVicar says Mr Singh's family have said they would like to be there alongside families of other murder victims.
