One of the six men involved in the aggravated robbery and fatal shooting of South Auckland liquor store owner Navtej Singh committed further crimes while out on bail awaiting trial.
Tino Felise was acquitted of murdering Mr Singh but convicted of aggravated robbery and was jailed for five years earlier this month.
While on bail awaiting trial for the murder, Felise obtained a firearm, stole a car and led police on high-speed chase through South Auckland, Radio New Zealand reported today.
He was sentenced yesterday to a further nine months in jail over the incident.
A spokesman for Navtej Singh's family, Daljit Singh, said the Government needed to protect the public and not give violent offenders the opportunity to commit further crimes.
