Naval rating detained for a year after admitting kidnap, assault

A teenage naval rating has been detained for a year and dismissed from the Navy following a court martial at the Devonport Naval Base.

Reo Te Whetu Marama Marsh, 19, will spend the next 12 months at Burnham Military Camp after admitting charges including kidnap, assault and threatening to kill.

The offending took place in April after his relationship with a female naval rating ended.
