KEY POINTS:
National leader John Key today outlined 11 "Key election commitments".
They are:
1. Cut personal taxes in 2009, 2010 and 2011;
2. Increase investment in key infrastructure such as roads and broadband and retain state assets;
3. Cap bureaucrat numbers and channel government spending into frontline services;
4. Abolish parole for repeat serious violent offenders;
5. Set national standards in schools for literacy and numeracy;
6. Tackle health workforce crisis by boosting medical training places by 200 a year and voluntary bonding for doctors, nurses and midwives;
7. Continue Working for Families payments at current levels, keep 20 hours free early childhood education and keep cap on GPs' fees;
8. Keep eligibility age of universal super at 65 and boost payments through tax cuts;
9. Retain KiwiSaver, but with contributions at a "2 percent plus 2 percent" level;
10. Maintain and inflation fix all benefits through legislation while encouraging those who can work to go back to work;
11. Keep interest-free student loans and offer a 10 percent bonus on early repayments.
