National's Katrina Shanks is keen to stay involved in politics, after just failing to make it to parliament.
Final results released over the weekend saw National lose a seat and Ms Shanks, a first-timer who was 46th on the party's list, is the one to miss out.
Ms Shanks stood as an electorate candidate against Peter Dunne in Ohariu-Belmont, and says she would be keen to do so again if the party wants her in 2008.
She says National won the party vote in Ohariu-Belmont and she believes it is important the party has some continuity when it comes to a candidate there.
