KEY POINTS:
A TV One-Colmar Brunton poll yesterday shows the gap between National (52 per cent) and Labour (36 per cent) closing a bit since May.
In the last survey National was on 56 per cent and Labour 31. Of the minor parties, only the Greens reached the 5 per cent party vote threshold needed to get MPs into Parliament without winning an electorate seat.
National Party leader John Key (35 per cent) was ahead of Prime Minister Helen Clark (29 per cent) as preferred prime minister.
