National Tamaki MP Allan Peachey has had surgery to remove a diseased kidney. Mr Peachey, who turns 57 next month, said he and his family were dealing with a situation which has come "as a complete bolt out of the blue".
He expected to make a straightforward recovery and was looking forward to returning to Parliament in due course. His electorate agent Murray McKinnon said Mr Peachey would be away at least a month.
