National is holding its high poll rating in a survey taken after the increase in GST.
TV3's latest poll, broadcast tonight, showed National at 53.8 per cent support, down just 0.7 per cent since the last poll.
Labour had made a small gain, up two points to 32.6 per cent.
Prime Minister John Key was up two points to 50.6 per cent in the personal popularity stakes against 8.8 per cent for Labour leader Phil Goff.
Minor parties were mostly unchanged, although ACT slipped further to 0.9 per cent.
On tonight's figures, if an election was held now National would have enough seats in Parliament to govern alone without any support party.
The margin of error is usually plus or minus about 3.2 per cent.
