A Napier woman has died after the car she was driving collided with a truck this morning.
The accident happened shortly after 7am on State Highway Two.
Police spokeswoman Kris McGehan said the woman is believed to be aged in her sixties.
She said initial inquiries suggest the woman's car may have crossed the centre-line and veered into the path of the truck.
She said the truck driver was not injured in the crash.
Ms McGehan said police are looking for witnesses to the crash and sightings of the woman's silvery-green Mitsubishi Colt hatchback.
She said anyone with information should call Napier police on (06) 831 0700.
