The sentencing of a Napier man for the abduction and rape of a woman 10 weeks ago was further adjourned yesterday when a judge was told reports were not available.
Trevor Eagle, 31, was to have been sentenced yesterday in the High Court at Napier on 11 charges relating to the kidnap of the woman from her Napier home on January 17.
Eagle entered the woman's home and forced her to go with him to a forest off the Napier-Taupo highway.
She was repeatedly violated in a day-long ordeal before managing to escape. Eagle was later caught in the Bay of Plenty.
Eagle was not in court yesterday when the matter was called before Justice Cooper and was remanded in continued custody to appear again on May 12.
The judge was told by Crown prosecutor Jonathon Krebs that psychiatric reports were not yet available.
The reports are required before the court considers a sentence of preventive detention for the offences.
Eagle earlier pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated burglary, one of abduction, one of rape, six of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, one of indecent assault, and one of unlawfully taking the victim's car.
