Napier police are appealing for information after an armed teen tried to rob a local dairy.
The youth, who was thought to be armed with a pistol, demanded money from the shopkeeper at a dairy on Te Awa Ave in suburban Marewa about 6.55pm yesterday, Senior Sergeant Wendy Wright said.
He left the store empty-handed and may have got in a vehicle after running west down Creagh St, she said.
The offender was described as Maori or Polynesian, about 16 or 17-years-old. He was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and trousers.
Ms Wright said anyone who saw the teen or any suspicious vehicles in the area should contact police immediately.
